Jazz

Three paintings of jazz musicians, clarinet, saxophone, and trumpet

In my opinion Jazz and Art go hand in hand

Art is expressive as is jazz so it's no coincidence that a lot of my paintings have jazz musicians as the main subject matter. Abstract art has many similarities with the expressive and experimental jazz music and I truly think that painting whilst listening to jazz music unlocks some kinda inner expressiveness and a heightened state of creativity.

Two jazz musicians

This is an old painting using acrylic on canvas board and created whilst i was going thru a blue phase.

Francis Ford Coppola

One of the greatest directors of the 20th century and seen here posing with a gun during the filming of the seminal 1979 war film Apocolypse Now.

Kind of blue

This is another jazz-themed painting made back in 2005 and another venture in to using much blue.

Absract Jazz

All That Jazz- A Fusion of Jazz & Hip-Hop

Above another painting from around 2005 and very influenced by jazz hip-hop group The Roots. On the right is Black Thought, one of the rappers from the band. The great and creative way they make hip-hop is by playing traditional instruments like guitar, piano, double bass, Hammond organ, drums as apposed to jus using an MPC drum machine.

On the left a painting of a man reading a book about William S. Burroughs, one of my favourite authors. On the right a painting also on canvas board of Malcolm X, the African-American Muslim minister and human rights activist.

   Masques

Paintings resemble African face mask designs, and are inspired by masks i have here in my lounge.
